Strawberry-Syar Connection

Water quality monitoring is an environmental mitigation commitment for the Diamond Fork System. Flows released from Strawberry Reservoir through Syar Tunnel into Diamond Fork create potential water quality and flow concerns. Therefore, the Commission is cooperating with the Central Utah Water Conservancy District to conduct water quality and flow monitoring in Sixth Water and Diamond Fork. The Commission entered into a cooperative agreement with the District to implement the program in 1997. If monitoring indicates potential problems for downstream resources, then the Commission will work with the District and others to respond. Following completion of the Diamond Fork System, monitoring will be expanded to include a broad range of parameters.
